About Porphis UK

I suppose the best place to start is at the beginning—44 years ago!

I trained as a panel beater and sprayer at 16, and by 19 I had opened my own bodyshop. At 22, I became a paint distributor for Lechler Coatings, and five years later I began distributing for PPG.

In 2008, I moved to Spain, and that is when the real adventure began. I became great friends with Alberto Pedrosa, the wholesale supplier for Portugal and Spain for a Polish paint manufacturer called Profix. At the time, it was not a well-known brand, but how times have changed.

While I was in Spain, Alberto introduced me to his friend Antonio Martinez, who owned a company called Diluyentes Para Agua (DPA). I also became close friends with Antonio, but sadly he died suddenly and tragically just four years later. We still miss him to this day—he was truly a wonderful person.

I moved back to the UK in mid-2010 and became the exclusive UK importer for DPA, a role I still hold today. In 2012, I opened another paint distribution shop, and in 2017, after visiting Alberto in Portugal and discovering he was the importer for Gerko Belgium, I became the exclusive UK importer for Gerko. However, COVID made things very difficult, and I passed the business on around three years later, shortly after the pandemic.

In 2022, I started importing PPS cups and abrasives from China under my own Pro-Coat brand. Then, in 2023, I became the UK importer for Detroit Surface Care compounds, waxes, ceramic coatings, and more—again thanks to my great friend Alberto.

I first spoke to Porphis in late 2024, and after comprehensive testing, we are now importing its full range of automotive spray guns and accessories, with the largest stock available in the UK.

Just so you know, Alberto is now the importer for Pro-Coat and Porphis in Portugal and Spain—so I finally paid him back 😊

The Porphis story began in 2008, when eight spray gun technicians, driven by a passion for quality and technology development, embarked on a journey to manufacture spray guns. Through our deep specialization in automotive refinishing and industrial coating, we established a strong presence in the Chinese spray gun market.

With a commitment to technological exchange, the need was felt to open the company to the international market to resonate with more professional partners, leading to the birth of the Porphis brand.

We pay attention to the changing market demands and listen to user feedback. Establishing a data-driven information collection system is the foundation of our continuous R&D efforts, enabling us to consistently update our products and better serve our partners.
